Eyes Forward - Goggles and Faceshields Now In The Hands Of Healthcare Heroes

We're excited to update our readers about some of our ongoing projects. This week, we've confirmed the delivery of 1000 Flinn Scientific Goggles and 300 Zay Products face shields, funded by patrons of the DonatePPE GoFundMe page, as well as 8000 face shields produced by Ford Motors.

FlinnSci goggles were distributed to healthcare workers at Stony Brook Medicine and NYU Winthrop Hospital on Long Island, and Tulane Medical Center and University Medical Center (LSU) in New Orleans.

Face shields produced by Zay Products, a ski boot company now manufacturing PPE, were shipped to Stony Brook Medicine.

Face shields from our ongoing collaboration with Ford Motors were delivered by our friends at MedSupplyDrive and PPENow to hospital staff in NYC, Connecticut, Atlanta, and New Orleans: still more are on the way to these and other regions.

DonatePPE has been actively collecting and delivering PPE donations from the community to local hospitals: donors have been offering surgical masks, gloves, sanitizing equipment and respirators, and we're posting regularly to our Instagram page to recognize these gifts. Meanwhile, our team is working with our partners to source and ship surgical masks, isolation gowns, shoe covers and bouffants. And this week, we're anticipating another round of shipments of Ford face shields to our Philadelphia, Michigan, Maryland, New Jersey, Connecticut, NYC, San Francisco and Los Angeles distribution centers.

Finally, we wanted to shed some light on a remarkable initiative seated in the heart of Los Angeles: LA FaceShields.

LAFaceShields is a grassroots, homebrew production that’s been churning out hundreds of face shields for Los Angeles healthcare workers since the call for PPE went out in late March. Their process, from cutting shields and affixing bands to meticulously sterilizing, drying and packaging, is all led by Hollywood prop fabricator Robert West and his crew of local volunteers.

We’ll be helping get 440 of their sturdy face shields to emergency room and COVID doctors and nurses in hospitals all over Southern California, including in Riverside and San Diego. See how the LAFaceShields project is helping protect healthcare workers, donate to their production and support the volunteers here.
